Vigil went live 48 hours after the June 2026 Venezuela earthquakes — a missing persons board, a crisis map, an AI assistant that answers in eight languages and never invents an answer it doesn’t have. It’s still standing watch today, still live at vigil.youthewave.org.
YouTheWave is the organization that comes after it. Not a rebrand, not a pivot — the name for what was already true: Vigil was never meant to be the only thing we build. It’s the first proof that one person, moving fast, with the right tools, can carry weight that usually waits for an institution to get around to it.
What YouTheWave is not: a platform that tries to do everything at once. Every initiative gets built on its own terms, named on its own terms, scoped to solve one real problem well — the same discipline Vigil was built with. Education, resource access, community wellbeing are next on the wave. They’ll get announced here when they’re real, not before.
Not governments. Not institutions. One person is a ripple — together, we are a rising tide.
